City tour "Anders zu Hause" - guided bike tour
Fascinating, likeable, profound - this year, Henk Wyniger and Sven-André Dreyer from Düsseldorf have dedicated an illustrated literary calendar to their home city: favourite places, insider tips and lost places in the city, immersed in the sophisticated light of a metropolis. The texts are in perfect symbiosis with the pictures: lively moments, slightly elegiac, deeply authentic. Twelve landscapes of life show the other Düsseldorf and let the love for the city get deep under your skin.
On their city tour "Anders zu Hause", graphic artist Henk Wyniger and author Sven-André Dreyer take their guests on a visual and literary guided bike tour to well-known and lesser-known places in the city. The tour interweaves places into a visual-literary construct and tells Düsseldorf stories that want to be (re)discovered. It is not the usual tourist sites that the graphic and literary team has selected, but rather the places that have their own inherent beauty. Places whose attractiveness sometimes only becomes recognisable on closer inspection. Places, including places of remembrance, which - sometimes real, sometimes fictitious - provide insights into the eventful recent history of the city.
For example, when the Paradiesstrand invites you on a short holiday and the Ratinger Hof, a legendary punk pub on Ratinger Straße, is visited by a young music-loving punk on the occasion of a concert by his favourite band Wire in the 1970s. A visit to Düsseldorf Zoo in the 1960s also turns into a small memoir when the protagonist recounts his experiences from the time when Düsseldorf was known for its zoo. But current locations, such as the GAP 15 or the Fortuna-Büdchen, also become scenes of Düsseldorf's history and stories when the graphic-literary team of Wyniger and Dreyer create artistic observations of their home city and present an alternative, graphic-literary city tour for those interested in Düsseldorf with "Anders zu Hause".
What makes it special: At each location visited, the history of the place is presented and the literary text is read by author Sven-André Dreyer. At the same time, graphic artist Henk Wyniger explains how he approaches the place in his artistic illustrations.
The city tour "Anders zu Hause" visits selected places in the calendar on a guided bike tour, because "Anders zu Hause" is a city tour for Düsseldorf lovers. And all those who want to become one.
Please bring your own or borrowed bikes for the tour.
