The story of the 8th-century painter Han Gan inspired Chen Jianghong to create this picture book. Han Gan lived in China and painted nothing but horses. Like Han Gan, Chen also paints his pictures on silk. As a result, his picture book art is among the most extraordinary currently on display in this field.
Chen Jianghong, born in 1963, was awarded the German Youth Literature Prize in 2005 for *Han Gan and the Miracle Horse*.
