Giacomo Puccini juxtaposed three different stories in his opera triptych:
From the comedy "Gianni Schicchi", set in 1299, in which a cunning peasant outwits a gang of inheritance thieves, to the Renaissance drama of "Suor Angelica", a nun who is driven mad by her fellow nuns, to the jealousy tragedy "Il tabarro", set in the Parisian working class milieu at the beginning of the 20th century. An evening that shows the failure of all human co-operation and ends with an outcry. (Source: Deutsche Oper am Rhein)
