Event as part of the Art:walk Festival
The 30-minute impulse tour explains how the lives of queer people changed dramatically from 1933 onwards - in the German Reich in general and in Düsseldorf in particular.
The tour provides insights into the social, legal and political circumstances that severely restricted the lives of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender and intersex people. It shows how repression, marginalisation and state persecution shaped everyday life, but also how people found ways to live their identity and create community despite all the threats. The impulse tour invites visitors to retrace this history at close quarters, to understand the perspectives of those affected and to consciously reflect on the impact of Nazi policies on queer life in Düsseldorf. An important moment that makes historical contexts tangible and at the same time stimulates reflection. (Source: Art:walk Festival)
