Legend has it that Giuseppe Tartini received the inspiration for his highly virtuoso Devil's Trill Sonata in a dream - from none other than the devil himself.
It goes without saying that it is literally fiendishly difficult. Fortunately, however, in star violinist Ray Chen, there is an artist on stage whose breathtaking technique is more than a match for the work. And he is in the best of company: the Amsterdam Sinfonietta certainly needs no introduction here. In Béla Bartók's lively Divertimento for string orchestra, the Dutch chamber orchestra lets the Hungarian grand master's mischievous humour sparkle. And after the interval, you can expect not only Pietro Locatelli's Concerto grosso, but once again Ray Chen, who brings the sound of Buenos Aires to Düsseldorf with Astor Piazzolla's tango impressions Las cuatro estaciones porteñas.
