Erika Kiffl is one of the best-known artist portraitists of the post-war period. She photographed the protagonists of the academy in their studios and at work.
These artists include Bruno Goller, Erwin Heerich, Gotthard Graubner, Gerhard Richter, Gerhard Hoehme and many more. She also documented the Düsseldorf Academy tours for over a decade from the 1970s onwards and became an important chronicler of early artists' careers. She immortalised the graduation works of many important academy graduates in photographs and thus became a contemporary document. The photographs by Erika Kiffl and individual series by Manfred Leve and Benjamin Katz, also co-founders of the AFORKs, enter into dialogue with the original photographed artworks in the exhibition and thus present themselves as a mnemonic atlas of the Academy.
