On the trail of Joseph Beuys by bike

Beuys & Leverkusen

The last section of the tour takes you through the Urdenbacher Kämpe, a nature reserve with many fruit trees and wet meadows in the south of Düsseldorf. If you let your eyes wander, you'll find the Zollfeste Zons on the other side of the Rhine, a medieval town with a 600-year-old windmill and historic city walls. Arriving at the destination, Morsbroich Castle in Leverkusen, a magnificent baroque palace awaits. Both the sculpture park around the museum and the exhibitions in the museum are worth a visit.

Length: 25.5 km
Vertical meters: 59 m
Duration: 1 h 21 min

The special Beuys moment on the road:

Nature played an important role for Beuys. This section of the route repeatedly passes through green oases such as the Urdenbacher Kämpe nature reserve.

The perfect Instagram motif:

After almost 300 km (all tour sections together) you have reached your destination! Here a photo of your bike in front of the baroque castle may not be missing to celebrate the distance traveled.

The Beuys quote fits this stage:

"Make use of the power you have through the right to self-determination!"

Fat burning:

approx. 1,200 kcal yield 160 grams of butter

Detailed information on the various highlight locations on the route can be found at Tourismus NRW .
