“I feel that Düsseldorf has become a culinary hot spot.”

There’s a new chef in town! Or more precisely a new one at The Court, where Philipp Lange has been head chef since June 2024. Before his arrival, The Court used to serve an assortment of grilled dishes, but now fine dining is the order of the day. Philipp Lange previously worked at Agata’s for more than ten years, most recently as head chef. His concept for The Court can be summed up as ‘The Dining Experience’. Discerning guests can look forward to a fusion of Japanese cuisine and classic ingredients, shaped by culinary influences from Düsseldorf’s Little Tokyo. Everything is centred around a seven-course menu, with the individual courses also available à la carte.
Mike Litt met up with Philipp Lange at The Court and talked to him about his childhood on Maui, his affinity for Japanese culture, and his idea of what a restaurant should sound like.

Tip

Chefs in Town: On Sunday, 29 September, diners will be treated to a remarkable gourmet experience at the Chefs in Town event. Together with Philipp Lange, Nils Henkel from the Bootshaus restaurant at the Papa Rhein Hotel in Bingen and Kevin Bürmann from the Haebel in Hamburg will be creating an amazing vegetarian six-hands dinner.
