All Rhine! – With Lasse Scheiba, Dramaturg & Production Manager at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus
The podcast with Mike Litt
"Everyone has something to say and deserves a stage."
Lasse Scheiba is dramaturge and production manager at Stadt:Kollektiv at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. Lasse comes from Hamburg, where his theater career began at the Schauspielhaus. After working at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin for eight years, he came to the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. Some of you know him under his alter drag ego Effi Biest.

Mike Litt visited Lasse Scheiba at the Schauspielhaus. On the stage of the Großes Haus, they talked about the work of the Stadt:Kollektiv, what makes theater work so magical and how you can win the Faust Prize as a genre-breaker. Lasse also provides insights into his commitment to LGBTQ+, feminism and drag. As Effi Biest, Lasse regularly performs under the title Drag & Biest at the Schauspielhaus and says: "In drag, you come together in a room to celebrate queer existence, all together. As drag artists, we give the audience the gift of our presence and ourselves." It's about entertainment, but also about emancipation, self-realization and society.

It's worth taking a look at the Stadt:Kollektiv program, because as Lasse Scheiba explains: "The Stadt:Kollektiv is the division for participating, thinking and playing along. We are in the very professional cosmos of a municipal and state theater, we work with all trades, but the difference is that it is not the ensemble that is on stage, but people from the city and region."
