The six best addresses for cake take-away in Düsseldorf

We tell you where to find delicious cake

Even if you can't visit your favorite café due to the current lockdown, you don't have to miss out on delicious cakes. Many café operators continue to bake diligently and offer their sweet temptations for pickup. We've put together our six favorites for you.

Café Hüftgold

Located on the corner of Ackerstrasse and Lindenstrasse, Café Hüftgold is an institution in Flingern for homemade cakes. In order to continue supplying her customers with them, Patricia Leonhardt has converted the entrance to her café into a Corona-compliant serving point. There, cakes, bagels and toasties can be picked up daily from 9:00 to 18:00.

Nooij Dutch Deli

If you want to get hold of a cake at Nooij, you should do so by 4:00 p.m. on weekends. Because then the deli on Erkrather Straße is usually completely sold out. Temptations such as "Oreo Cheesecake," "Kirschstreusel-Kompott," or the multi-tiered "High Carrot Cake" are sold from Wednesday to Sunday, both as a whole and by the slice.

Grandma Erika

Normally, you can sit on the terrace at Grandma Erika's and watch the hustle and bustle on Herrmannplatz while enjoying one of the many coffee specialties. But now it's autumn. And lockdown. But don't despair, no one has to renounce the freshly made sandwiches or tasty carrot muffins: the Corona pass-through is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Pure Pastry

Fancy colorful macarons, delicious almond tart or chocolate cupcakes with salted caramel? At Pure Pastry, the focus is on craftsmanship and good ingredients. Patissier Tim Tegtmeier has been offering his dessert art at Carlsplatz since 2016. You can still buy takeaway there - or use the weekday delivery service, which brings the treats to your door.

pyc Oberkassel

Cheesecake can be so much more than baked cream cheese and cookie base. You can add colorful toppings of fresh berries, give it a fresh touch with lime or passion fruit topping, or turn it into a chocolate dream with lots of cocoa. That's exactly what pyc at Belsenstr. 18 on the left bank of the Rhine does with love and according to original American recipes. Pickup available Tuesdays through Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Velvet.

Vegans have long known that delicious cakes can also be made without eggs, milk and butter. Velvet on Stresemannstraße 8 is also focusing on this increasingly popular trend and bakes its apple pie without animal ingredients. In general, the focus here is on regional and organic products - and you can taste it! Through the "Coffee Window" you can supply yourself with nibbles and hearty meals from 12:00 to 18:00.
