Six museum cafés to linger in

Six museum cafés to linger in

We show you where art and pleasure meet

You probably already know that Düsseldorf has excellent museums. But do you also know their cafés? They are wonderful places with a special ambience that invite you to more than just a quick coffee.

Bulle Bistro and Wyno Wine Bar

The Bulle Bistro in the Philara Collection has grown. During the daytime hours there are small dishes with baked goods from the cult baker Bulle, from 18:00 Olaf Koelker will help you to make the right choice from his biodynamic wine assortment.

KIT Café & Bar

This place is already very special. Upstairs a café with a large terrace and a fantastic view of the Rhine, downstairs a tunnel tube where you can see contemporary works by young artists. Whether breakfast or sundowner - KIT Café is a good destination at any time of day.

Clover's

The pub on Grabbeplatz is named after the artist Paul Klee, who taught at the nearby art academy until 1933. The purchase of 88 of his works by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia was the "go-ahead" for the establishment of the art collection in 1960. Klee's kitchen is geared toward small, quick meals, which you can enjoy outside in good weather.

PONG – pop culture and gastronomy

The NRW-Forum is an international exhibition center for photography, pop and digital culture. At its heart, or more precisely under the eleven-meter-high dome, you'll find Pong: a café with delicious cakes and fancy salads by day, and a venue for modern pop culture events like concerts or readings by night.

Castle tower lantern

The castle tower on Burgplatz is the last remnant of the city castle, which fell victim to a fire in 1872. It houses the SchifffahrtMuseum - and on the top floor, the small Café Laterne. Here you can enjoy a delicious breakfast and a fantastic view over the old town, the Rhine promenade and the busy shipping traffic of the Rhine.

Bistro Bitch

Admittedly, the Zicke is not a museum café. But it's a stalwart of Düsseldorf's gastro scene and just a stone's throw from the Stadtmuseum. People of all stripes meet here: artists, academics, craftsmen and students. Even Loriot stopped by for a bottle of red wine when he had an exhibition at the Stadtmuseum years ago.
