Have breakfast like an emperor in these six cafés

Whether savory or sweet, lunch and dinner take a back seat forever at these stores.

Happiness is starting the day with an extended breakfast - and you're lucky if you live in Düsseldorf or are visiting. Many breakfast cafés invite you, and not infrequently until late in the afternoon. Foreign cuisines, coffee, bakery classics: there's something for everyone here!

Seven Sundays

As the name suggests, at Seven Sundays you can enjoy all the dishes that make Sunday breakfast your favorite meal all day, seven days a week - with classics from cuisines around the world! From Mexican Breakfast Burrito to U.S. pancakes and Eggs Benedict to Greek-style omelettes with feta and olives, no wish will be left unfulfilled - and no hangover untreated. Perfect for the (Sunday) walk afterwards: the café is located on Lorettostraße in Unterbilk, which invites you to discover the many owner-operated stores after eating, thus negating the calories of the four to five Cinnamon Rolls consumed.

Nooji Dutch Deli

For late risers and late risers, the Nooji Dutch Deli near the main train station offers excellent opening hours: From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can enjoy typical dishes like pancakes, yogurt and bagels as well as specialties. A foretaste? For example, a "Bacon Breakfast Burger" with beans, pickles and eggs, brioche with smoked salmon or grilled country bread with American filet, spinach and Amsterdam uitjes, or silver onions. Highly recommended is a classic from our neighboring country: the light and fluffy poffertjes with butter and powdered sugar.

Spoerl factory

A very special combination of tastes awaits you at the Spoerl Fabrik: Here, the focus is on Mediterranean cuisine, with dishes influenced by Arabic and Asian influences. In addition to the food, guests at this eatery in Pempelfort praise the large selection of teas. How about the fisherman's breakfast with house-pickled salmon and shrimp complete with scrambled eggs? Or the cheese breakfast with manchego, mozzarella, sheep and goat cheeses? Many side dishes such as homemade jam and turkey breast as well as fennel salami can be ordered at fair prices - as well as a bottle of Cava, Spain's answer to champagne.

Spoon bar

In the Pempelforter Löffelbar - formerly known for its soups, hence the name - many homemade specialties await you: If you like a healthy start to the day, you'll be thrilled with the Granola Smoothie Bowl; if you like it hearty, choose the Brunch Bowl with poached egg, avocado, chard and - always good - Spicy Chorizo for a small extra charge. Very worthwhile: On weekends, for 26 euros you get a breakfast that fills you up until Sunday evening.

Goldsheim

Start the day relaxed: That's exactly what you can do at "Goldsheim" in, that's right, Golzheim. Less than a quarter of an hour from the city center, coffee drinkers and cake lovers alike will get their money's worth here. Don't miss the juicy carrot-nut cake and the various cold-brew creations such as Affogato, the Italian classic with espresso and vanilla ice cream. Note: Reservations are not accepted at the café, which fills up quickly even during the week, so it's best to be there before 9 am.

Bull bakery

And if it's just something to go, because you don't want to waste time discovering Düsseldorf? Or you still need a few rolls for brunch with friends? Then off to Bulle! The bakery with branches in Flingern (Birkenstrasse 55) and in the city center (Oststrasse 13) provides you with traditional baked goods such as Berliners and pretzel-cheese rolls, but also with unusual offerings such as nougat shortbread or date-walnut couscous sticks. And if the smell of freshly baked goods doesn't wake you up, the aroma of home-roasted coffee certainly will.
