A November without a traditional dish is not a real November. So let's get the roast on!
Red cabbage, dumplings, roast goose: If there is one dish that - alongside pumpkin perhaps - is a classic in the fall, then this is it. Many restaurants take reservations weeks in advance to guarantee the high demand for this seasonal highlight. There are also a number of restaurants in Düsseldorf, six of which we present to you here. But, as mentioned, if your mouth is watering at the mere thought of crispy roasted poultry, then don't hesitate and book as soon as possible so that you can answer the all-important question: breast or leg?

When does a meal become a tradition? By the seventh year at the latest! The Stahlwerk celebrated this very anniversary in 2021. At the event location in Lierenfeld, you can enjoy goose breast or goose leg and any number of side dishes such as red cabbage, Brussels sprouts, dumplings, cranberries, goose sauce or goose fat. We like to repeat that: any number of side dishes! Alternatively, the chefs also prepare sauerbraten and a vegetarian alternative, namely napkin dumplings in a creamy mushroom sauce with spring onions - just in case you or a companion are looking for alternatives. A dessert rounds off the culinary experience.

Brewery Fuchsjagd
A Sunday roast is - as the name suggests - theoretically available every weekend. But a goose is one of the highlights of the culinary year, and the anticipation cannot be great enough. In other words: if you dream of your favorite dish for twelve months, you can really get your teeth into it when the time comes. The Fuchsjagd brewery follows this motto, where you can have as much goose, dumplings, red cabbage and gravy as you like until you go home with at least three to four kilograms more. The restaurant in Eller charges 29.90 euros for this dish, which is so popular on the occasion of St. Martin's Day. If you prefer to dine at home, VEEDELSBOTEN will also deliver the menu to your door for €26.90. And for around €120, you can even get a whole goose including side dishes. What does brewery owner Thomas Papagrigoriou have to say about his offer? "This is the best goose dinner in Düsseldorf!" And who knows, maybe you'll soon think the same?

Country house Freemann
On November 2, the big feast begins at Landhaus Freemann in Kalkum: goose will be served every evening, framed by a starter and dessert. First, a pumpkin and coconut ginger soup awaits you, followed by the poultry with the classically delicious side dishes, which in turn is rounded off with a baked apple with vanilla sauce for dessert. At a price of 34.50 euros per person, you can enjoy your meal in the restaurant, which is particularly popular with families. Here, too, you can have the roast delivered to your home by goose cab. Animal welfare also plays a decisive role for many people when it comes to the traditional goose dinner. The Luegallee in Oberkassel is not only a relaxed place to dine in this respect. The meat traditionally comes from the "Gänsepeter" in Rommerskirchen, i.e. from regional, species-appropriate farming. From October 27 to the end of December, you can enjoy the dish with dumplings, red cabbage, chestnuts and marzipan baked apples. You can get a whole goose with side dishes for 4 to 6 people for around 245 euros, and a single leg of goose for 38 euros. All we can say is: juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside, what more could a gourmet's heart desire?

Frankenheim brewery pub
"Hooray the geese are here!" is also the motto at the Frankenheim brewery pub from October 28. The menu includes goose breast or leg with potato dumplings, cherry-balsamic red cabbage and Brussels sprouts or the "bourgeois variation" on kale. The portion with side dishes is available for around €30 per person, a whole goose for €144. A tip for a particularly romantic experience at the brewery pub on Wielandstraße: the "Gans schön romantisch" event series, where you can enjoy the delicious traditional dish every Friday and Saturday evening in the glow of a sea of candlelight.
