D'haus: Schauspiel (theatre)
The bright white, organically curved façade of the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, built between 1965 and 1969 according to the plans of the Düsseldorf architect Bernhard Pfau, is the design antithesis of the neighbouring Dreischeibenhaus.
Beschreibung
With his design concept, Pfau prevailed against the star architect Richard Neutra from Los Angeles. The Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus is the only State theatre in North Rhine-Westphalia and is one of the most important theatres in the German-speaking world: Internationally renowned directors, set designers and actors regularly fill the house.
