Accomodation Tax
The accommodation tax is a tax that has been levied in Düsseldorf since 1 January 2024. It applies to every overnight stay in an accommodation establishment (e.g. hotel, guesthouse, private room).
The accommodation tax must be paid by every guest who stays overnight in an accommodation establishment (e.g. hotel, guesthouse, private room) in Düsseldorf for a fee.
The accommodation tax is 3 euros per person and per overnight stay.
Persons under the age of 18, participants in school and youth trips and guests who stay in the same accommodation for more than 21 consecutive days are exempt.
Guests who are exempt from the accommodation tax can apply for a refund of the tax paid retrospectively. A corresponding form is available online.
The tax office of the state capital Düsseldorf will check and process the refund.
