In the centre of Corneliusplatz, between Hofgarten and Königsallee, stands the Schalenbrunnen - a neo-baroque gem from 1882, designed by sculptor Leo Müsch. The fountain depicts water gods, dolphins and lion heads spouting water. It is a staging reminiscent of ancient myths and at the same time reflects the prestigious design of the Wilhelminian era. Originally part of a larger urban planning concept, the square was laid out according to plans by city gardener Friedrich Hillebrecht and later redesigned by Walter von Engelhardt. Today, the fountain is a popular meeting place for walkers and a peaceful spot in the heart of the city that combines history and aesthetics.
