Hetjens-Museum (German ceramics museum)
The exhibits from all parts of the world are up to 8,000 years old. Named after its founder Laurenz Heinrich Hetjens, a wealthy Düsseldorf ceramic collector and renowned expert in the field of Rhine stoneware, this museum is considered to be the most universal of its kind and has a long history of its own.
Beschreibung
The collection has been open to the public since 1909, with more than 8,500 m² of exhibition space now available. Highlights of the museum, that is located next to the Film museum in the Carlstadt district, are ancient and pre-Columbian ceramics, rare stoneware vessels, Islamic ceramics, an extensive collection of valuable porcelain and an Asia department which was redesigned in 2018.
