Christmas in Düsseldorf
In the run-up to Christmas, the city shines in festive splendor every year: the Dome of Lights shines brightly, the smell of roasted almonds fills the air and the Düsseldorf Christmas market attracts visitors with arts and crafts, the Old Town market and delicious treats. Taking place from November 21 to December 30, 2024, the entire city center of Düsseldorf is transformed into a Christmas paradise, lined with hundreds of Christmas trees. Stroll around, buy presents and experience Christmas - here in Düsseldorf, everything is just a mulled wine away. And if you want to get up high, take a ride on the Ferris wheel on Burgplatz and enjoy an unforgettable panoramic view of the city.
There are special opening hours for the Christmas markets in Düsseldorf city centre on the following days: On Christmas Eve (Tuesday, 24 December) they are open from 11 am to 3 pm and on Boxing Day (Thursday, 26 December) from 2 pm to 9 pm. The Christmas markets will be closed on Sunday of the Dead (24 November) and Christmas Day (Wednesday, 25 December).

Every year during the Advent season, various Christmas-themed worlds await you at the Düsseldorf Christmas market. The organiser of the Düsseldorf Christmas markets in the city centre is D.LIVE.
Parking
As many visitors are currently expected, especially at weekends, travelling by public transport is recommended. A good destination is the Heinrich-Heine-Allee underground station, as it is centrally located in the city centre.
Visit www.rheinbahn.de for more information and to help you plan your journey by public transport. The airport is also offering a park & ride ticket entitling you to use car park P13 at the airport. The ticket includes the journey by public transport (Rheinbahn) to the Christmas market in Düsseldorf’s city centre. You can find all the details here. Another option is to park your vehicle in car park P7 at the Merkur-Spiel Arena and to use the new park & ride ticket offered by D.LIVE and Rheinbahn to travel into the city centre on public transport from there. More information can be found here. The Provinzial car park at Hohensandweg 41 offers a free alternative. It is located directly on the A46 and can be used free of charge on busy days. On Saturdays in December (8, 15 and 22 December), the Provinzial car park can be used between 10 am and 10 pm. From there, you can easily reach the Christmas market in the city centre by public transport.
If you are travelling by car, you should definitely check the occupancy of the car parks in the city centre before you arrive, especially on the busy Advent weekends. This can be done quickly and easily with the VT-Manager. The VT-Manager website also displays current traffic information such as roadworks and route utilisation so that you can avoid traffic jams or switch to Park & Ride spaces.

The Christmas market will be closed on Sunday, 24 November and on Christmas Day (Wednesday, 25 December).
Due to construction work, the huts of the Sternchen market will not be set up this year. The Englechen market huts will be located on Königsallee, as in previous years.
