Outdoor Spot: Bilker Straße – Street Festival: 'Street of Romance and Revolution'
The ‘Street of Romance and Revolution’ is set to become a vibrant cultural hub, featuring open-door cultural venues and studios, culinary delights, and an outdoor stage hosting music, theatre, literature and hands-on activities for all ages.
This weekend, as part of the Art:walk Festival, Bilker Straße will be transformed into the ‘Street Festival of Romanticism and Revolution’ – a vibrant cultural celebration featuring an outdoor stage, music, theatre, podcasts, a choir, jazz, art-pop, food and drink, open studios, and numerous hands-on activities for young and old alike.
The cultural venues along the street – the Schumann House, the Heinrich Heine Institute, the Institut Français, the Marionette Theatre and the Palais Wittgenstein – as well as the studios in the courtyards will open their doors and invite visitors to enjoy a diverse programme. From top-class chamber music by the Robert Schumann University of Music to the dance theatre “Träumereien”, Singpausen choir classes, bands from the Clara Schumann Music School, university radio and live podcasts, right through to concerts by the winners of the Band Professionalisation programme – everything is represented.
The Schumann House, the Heinrich Heine Institute, the Puppet Theatre and the Palais Wittgenstein are particularly geared towards families and invite you to explore, try things out and linger.
