Urban artists combine classical art styles with pop, punk, contemporary art, graffiti and street art, reflecting the thoughts and moods of today's world, which are most likely to be perceived in the large metropolitan areas, the melting pots of our society. The mash-up already familiar in other art forms such as music and film, the interweaving of the known and the unknown, the quoting, deconstruction and renewed networking is sensed and applied by urban artists in the visual arts.
The artists represented by Pretty Portal show their works in the gallery and in public space, the urban environment. They use this as the largest possible gallery, which they recultivate with their murals and installations, thereby bringing art to the people. In doing so, they counterbalance the omnipresent commercial advertising imagery, place their sometimes socially critical messages and reclaim the urban living space for culture and a debate about relevant content.
