The TMD is the Theatre Museum & Dumont-Lindemann Archive of the state capital Düsseldorf and has been in existence since 1947. Housed in the beautiful Hofgartenhaus, it sees itself as a meeting place where a diverse urban community engages with the performing arts. On the ground floor, the permanent exhibition invites visitors to discover a historically unique reform theatre. On the upper floor, the TMD’s special exhibitions explore changing themes drawn from its diverse collection. A varied programme of events is also on offer: Visitors can not only meet the TMD team, but also the extraordinary artists and cultural practitioners associated with the museum. Alongside guided tours, talks and lectures, the Hofgartenhaus hosts educational programmes, performances, as well as drag nights and voguing balls.
