Finding images is a process that offers two perspectives: on the one hand, finding images from our own time, which is currently replete with all manner of grotesque phenomena; and on the other, inventing images that transcend our own time, as an affirmation of imagination and a rejection of mere illustration.
Both perspectives have shaped Eckhard Froeschlin’s vision, particularly in his etchings. Etching and incising, erasing and assembling, discarding and printing are processes that wrest an image from time and the metal plate.
The exhibition begins with early works based on a highly political poem by Brecht; it features artist’s books and portraits of poets, landscapes and crossings; and it concludes with a series of grotesque works from this year. (Source: Kultur Bahnhof Eller)
