A star-studded line-up for the Beethoven Year 2027: Gewandhaus Kapellmeister Andris Nelsons and his top-class Leipzig orchestra join forces with Lang Lang.
Together, they pay tribute to the grand master of the Viennese Classical period – and, fortunately, not only at home in the Gewandhaus, but also here at the Tonhalle! With the Fourth Piano Concerto and the Seventh Symphony, the programme features two works that are surely among the finest in Beethoven’s oeuvre – the opening bars of the Piano Concerto alone are enough to melt hearts and lift spirits. So lyrical, so expansive, it opens up a whole new world. And the Seventh? It follows on seamlessly from this horizon-broadening musical experience. The perfect opportunity for the Gewandhaus Orchestra and Lang Lang to showcase their finest musical qualities.
