Jörg Immendorff (1945-2007) was celebrated worldwide at the end of the 20th century as one of the most important German artists of his generation. As a notorious "painter prince", he cultivated a tough image and led a controversial lifestyle.
It is therefore all the more surprising that the exhibition planned for autumn 2026 at the Kunstpalast is the first comprehensive retrospective in Düsseldorf, where Immendorff studied, taught and worked for decades. The project, supported by the artist's estate, will shed light on all phases of his work, from his beginnings at the art academy to his last works in his studio here. (Source: Kunstpalast)
Exhibition period: 25 September 2026 to 10 January 2027
