What has been a tradition in Düsseldorf for centuries, namely the independent brewing of beer, is being spread elsewhere by means of the craft beer movement which enjoys great international popularity.

It is hardly surprising that a young generation of brewers also started producing their own beer in Düsseldorf. Hans-Peter Schwemin is one of them. With the “Kürzer” on the Kurzen Strasse he has fulfilled the dream of his own small but fine Altbier brewery. The young company and its courageous founder sometime in the future would certainly like to be able to look back on as long a tradition as their role models.
