These events make this traditional old town cinema with its cozy cinema café a popular and versatile event location. The Cinema has received several awards for its outstanding program from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media and the Filmstiftung NRW.
The Cinema was opened after the war as the “Bali Cinema”, a non-stop cinema with a daily changing program. After the closure of the old cinema on Kasernenstraße, there was a gap in the cinematic arts sector until Heinz Holzapfel took over the Bali and restored it to its former glory as the “Neues Cinema”.
The cinema belonged to UFA for a short time, but when it was taken over by the Düsseldorf Filmkunstkinos in 1998, reconstruction work had to be carried out.
