Gallery Burkhard Eikelmann
Gallery Burkhard Eikelmann shows around four to five major exhibitions a year in its own gallery space and also participates in various art shows and art fairs in Germany and internationally.
Burkhard Eikelmann founded his gallery at the end of 1989 in the first premises on Isenbergplatz - one of the most important cultural locations in Essen then and now.
The exhibition program in the 1990s began with young figurative painters, mostly from the art academies in Braunschweig and Düsseldorf. Early on, the interesting gallery space also offered the opportunity for installations, which sometimes resulted in unusual exhibition concepts.
Furthermore, the gallery's program included American and English pop art from the very beginning. At the end of the 1990s, Burkhard Eikelmann moved to Düsseldorf, where he began with a small gallery on Ratinger Straße and ran three galleries simultaneously in Essen and Düsseldorf for a long period of time.
After another stop on Ackerstraße in Düsseldorf (as the first gallery in Düsseldorf-Flingern!), he moved on to the gallery premises in Düsseldorf-Oberkassel that exist today. Here, in turn, famous artists such as Alex Katz, Gottfried Helnwein and Joseph Beuys are exhibited in rotation with contemporary artists from the gallery, mainly from Berlin and New York.
