Neanderthal Museum
Neanderthal Museum - experience a journey through time
Where one of the most popular and modern museums in Europe stands today, the Neanderthal Man was discovered over 160 years ago. Today, the Neanderthal is a world star. Everyone knows him - everyone has a picture of him. Reason enough for a museum to be dedicated to him and the history of mankind.
The museum takes visitors on a journey through human history - from our beginnings in Africa more than 4 million years ago to the present day. Varied displays and hands-on stations, lifelike reconstructions of our ancestors and explorer boxes to browse through make a visit to the museum an exciting experience for the whole family. In addition to the museum visit, a walk through Germany's oldest nature reserve is also worthwhile. There are aurochs, bison and tarpans to discover in the Ice Age game enclosure and the Stone Age playground opposite invites you to climb and run around.
New highlight in the Neandertal: the Höhlenblick adventure tower at the Neanderthal site. The 22-metre-high tower allows visitors to travel back to the Stone Age through virtual telescopes. Those with a head for heights can take the shortcut through the climbing tunnel at a height of 20 meters.
