When the warm breeze of Havana meets the vibrant nightlife of New Orleans, Hammond organist Gero Körner and drummer Benedikt Hesse build a musical bridge between the Caribbean and the American South.
For this year’s IDO Festival, the well-rehearsed team – featuring Volker Deglmann on trumpet and the exceptional Cuban vocalist Claudia Ramos Barreto – has come together to present a specially curated trio programme. Afro-Cuban grooves meet classics such as ‘Dos Gardenias’, whilst the glowing Hammond organ, driving rhythms and golden timbres shift seamlessly between bolero, jazz and funk. In a deeply emotional interplay of intimacy and ecstasy, a nocturnal sonic journey brimming with Afro-Cuban magic unfolds, making the audience dance and bringing time to a standstill for a moment.
