The name says it all: farbklang stands for modern jazz, rich in timbres, full of unexpected twists and musical freedom.
For many years now, the ensemble has been a regular guest at the IDO Festival – and time and again demonstrates just how naturally jazz and the pipe organ can engage in dialogue.
In the Evangelical Church in Urdenbach, multi-layered wind sections meet guitar, bass and drums – and the organ’s fascinating soundscape. Composed themes give rise to free improvisations, whilst delicate musical lines develop into powerful soundscapes. The organ becomes an equal part of the ensemble: it takes up motifs, transforms them, provides new impetus and continually opens up unexpected sonic spaces. At times atmospheric and ethereal, at others rhythmic and full of energy, the music emerges in the moment – vibrant, open and always in dialogue. (Source: IDO Festival)
