When Francesco Finotti won first prize at the International ‘Franz Liszt’ Organ Competition in Budapest in 1978, it marked the start of a brilliant career as a concert musician.
Finotti teaches organ and Gregorian chant at the ‘Pollini’ Conservatoire in Padua, but is also deeply involved in organ building. He developed a computer programme for calculating organ pipes and, in July 1999, published the first complete translation of the theoretical works of the organ builder Aristide Cavaillé-Coll. He has made numerous recordings for radio and on various media, featuring works by Schumann, Liszt, Franck, J. S. Bach, Mozart, Messiaen, Dupré, Langlais and Satie.
