When an entire big band meets the unmistakable sound of the Hammond organ, an evening full of energy, groove and great jazz moments is guaranteed.
The Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences Big Band has long been a fixture in the IDO Festival’s jazz programme – and this year, too, the audience can once again look forward to a top-class line-up.
Gero Körner, a guaranteed source of groove, returns to the IDO Big Band evening as a familiar guest on the Hammond organ. Also appearing as a soloist is saxophonist Reiner Witzel, who has been at home on international jazz stages for many years and adds further musical highlights with his wide stylistic range and love of improvisation.
The big band is led by Martin Reuthner, who, as a trumpeter, bandleader and arranger, has many years’ experience with renowned radio big bands and orchestras. Together, the musicians bring the full richness of big-band jazz to the stage: rousing brass sections, gripping solos, spontaneous musical dialogues – and at the heart of it all, the unmistakable sound of the Hammond organ.
