As part of a new collaboration with the New Fall Festival, the 21st IDO Festival is transforming the PONG at the NRW-Forum into a space for visionary sonic discoveries.
When the historic brick architecture of the Ehrenhof meets the hypnotic patterns of the present, Baroque tradition and the contemporary avant-garde enter into a gripping dialogue. The two exceptional artists, Yilin Han and Piotr Motyka, invite you to a rich, energetic encounter: they transpose complex masterpieces onto two accordions – the ‘queen of instruments’ in pocket-sized form – and ignite an unexpected, crystalline intensity. The hypnotic, repetitive sound waves of Philip Glass and Steve Reich interweave seamlessly with the dense rhythms of Johann Sebastian Bach’s sonically powerful D minor harpsichord concerto. A fascinating concert experience that envelops the space in a pulsating maelstrom of sound.
