Daniel Maurer studied in Paris under Jean Langlais, whom he regularly accompanied on tour as his assistant.
He went on to study with, amongst others, Rolande Falcinelli, André Marchal and Marie-Claire Alain. In 1982, he was awarded the Premier Prix d’orgue at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, as well as the Premier Prix d’Honneur à l’unanimité at the International Competition in Paris. He was a professor of organ and improvisation at the University of Music and the Conservatoire in Strasbourg. Daniel Maurer holds a teaching post in organ at the University of Music in Freiburg im Breisgau and serves as titular organist at the J.A. Silbermann organ (1741) in St Thomas’s Church, Strasbourg.
