The artist questions painting with his own means. As if through a funnel whose narrow opening is directed towards the viewer, he transfers images into the present through his own gaze. In doing so, he draws on design and art history as well as pop culture and everyday life: references to Polke, Palermo, Courbet, Picasso and Bacon meet doodles, cows and lamps.
Parallel to the exhibition, the artist is making generous donations to German, Belgian and Dutch museums,
including the Düsseldorfer Kunstpalast. Henning's works can be seen in various other exhibition venues in 2025,
for example at the Kunsthalle Bremen, Kunstmuseum Bonn, Museum Kurhaus Kleve, Museum Neuruppin, Sprengel
Museum Hannover, the AkzoNobel Art Foundation in Amsterdam, the Kunstmuseum Den Haag, Museum Kunstpalast and
