Our wonderful JSO is tackling a true classic in the form of Tchaikovsky’s 5th – and, with youthful energy, is breathing new life into it.
The music is brimming with intense emotion, exudes a fateful power and features catchy melodies that are brought to life by the fresh perspective of young musicians. This is what a classic sounds like when a new generation makes it their own. With Bizet’s fiery ‘Carmen’ Overture and Mozart’s Oboe Concerto, the evening begins with verve, elegance and plenty of musical sparkle.
