How did Düsseldorf become the "secret capital of Japan in Europe"? A new pop-up open-air exhibition "Düsseldorf ❤️ Japan. The chronicle of a special connection" by Visit Düsseldorf brings light into the darkness - on 40 metres in the middle of the old town.
The open-air exhibition highlights key stages: from the establishment of the first Japanese companies in the 1950s to the visit of the Japanese imperial couple in 1993 and today's Japan Day, which will take place on 24 May 2025. The chronology is supplemented by important topics such as gastronomy, pop culture and business - areas in which Düsseldorf is now regarded as the largest Japanese community in Europe. A must-see for anyone who wants to rediscover Düsseldorf or delve deeper into the city.
Exhibition duration: 19 May to the end of October 2025.
