"From Silence into Light" combines music by Gustav Mahler and Mykola Lysenko with texts by Rose Ausländer and Paul Celan to create a German-Ukrainian concert about memory, loss and the enduring power of music and poetry.
A German-Ukrainian concert
Banned music from Germany and Ukraine
Music and literature come together in a concert evening that gives space to forgotten voices and allows the power of art to be experienced across time and borders.
Works by Gustav Mahler and the Ukrainian composer Mykola Lysenko are paired with texts by Rose Ausländer and Paul Celan. Music and language create a space for remembrance, for the fragile, and for that which continues to resonate despite everything. The poems will be read by the two sopranos, each in the original language.
A concert about remembrance, cultural connection and the enduring power of music and poetry.
