Printed books continue to enjoy great popularity even in times of increasing digitalisation. This is demonstrated, for example, by the numerous new publications of lavishly illustrated decorative editions of popular literary classics.
Heine lover Dr Dietmar Meyersiek has been collecting Heine first editions for more than 50 years and has amassed a large number of rarities in the process. But that's not all: Heine's works are rebound in his collection in a special way. Artful book slipcases, exclusively designed and produced, enhance the historical editions.
The exhibition presents a selection of the precious original Heine editions and valuable book art objects, which were created in collaboration between the collector, the designer couple Prof. Helfried and Prof. Monika Hagenberg and the Mergemeier bookbindery.
