Horse racing: Race day in Düsseldorf, the state capital

For the 106th edition, the starting gates are set to open for this Group 3 race over 1,700 metres, with a prize fund of 55,000 euros.

Another highlight is the Große Sparkassen-Familien-Cup – PREMIUM HANDICAP, a Class 2 handicap race over 1,400 metres, with prize money of 30,000 euros. 

The City of Düsseldorf has planned various activities and stalls for this coming Sunday. From a photo van to a hop-on hop-off bus, there’s plenty on offer to keep boredom at bay. To mark the tenth anniversary of the Düsseldorf–Palermo town twinning in particular, the City of Düsseldorf is bringing an Italian flair to the racecourse.

There will also be a varied supporting programme featuring children’s activities and pony rides, as well as a range of food and drink options at the racecourse. It was possible to carry over a large part of the supporting programme from this year’s Sparkassen Race Day – which could not take place due to damage to the track caused by wildlife – to the season finale on 4 October.
The play paradise, featuring interactive stalls, prize draws and activities organised by Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf, is sure to delight children, and refreshments ranging from popcorn to nachos will also be available. Beaming children’s eyes and an unforgettable day for the whole family are therefore guaranteed!

From 09:30, the Vespa Club Sauhaufen Germany since 2021 invites you to join them for a group ride to the racecourse. The meeting point is Burgplatz – the Vespa parade will set off towards the racecourse from 11:15. Anyone wishing to take part should please arrive at Burgplatz with their Vespa between 9.30 am and 11.15 am.
Entry to the race day is free for participants in the Vespa parade.
