Alexander Leidolph, Thomas Etschmann and Mikhail Antropov are among Europe’s most distinguished guitar trios. Their concerts regularly take them to international festival stages and renowned concert halls.
Yet, beyond all their individual merits, one thing stands out above all else: the immediate impact of their ensemble playing. The programme ‘Virtuoso Guitar Music Through the Ages’ takes the audience on a musical journey through the centuries. Beginning with Vivaldi’s Concerto for Lute and Orchestra, moving on to compositions from the Spanish National School (Albeniz, Granados), and concluding in the 21st century with ‘Spain’ by jazz pianist Chick Corea and a sonata by Thomas Etschmann. Three guitars merge to form a sound of astonishing density: intimate and transparent, yet at the same time possessing orchestral richness. (Source: Heinrich Heine Institute)
