To mark the 10th anniversary of the Düsseldorf–Palermo town twinning, the Goethe Museum is presenting the results of the transnational open call ‘Nature and Spirits’.
The project took its starting point from Goethe’s drawing of the ‘ghostly figures’ at Villa Palagonia near Palermo (1787, Goethe Museum). A jury selected contemporary works from Düsseldorf and Palermo that reinterpret the tension between nature, the spirit and monstrosity. The exhibition showcases the artistic diversity of both partner cities and will subsequently move on to Palermo. (Source: Goethe-Museum)
Exhibition dates: 29 August to 6 December 2026
