It’s hard to imagine a New Year’s Eve without Beethoven’s Ninth at the Heinersdorff Concerts. And why should it be any different?
After all, it has long been a cherished tradition in Düsseldorf to bring the year to a close with Beethoven’s exhilarating Final Symphony. Since 2015, Christoph Spering and his ensembles, Chorus Musicus Köln and Das Neue Orchester, have been inviting audiences to the New Year’s Eve concert at the Tonhalle. And as far as we’re concerned, we’d be delighted if this were to continue for the next ten years. After all, what could be better than sending a positive message into the future with Beethoven’s groundbreaking masterpiece? After all, with its hymn to joy, life and brotherhood amongst all people, it says everything one could possibly wish for in the new year.
