Delicately dreamy, exquisitely beautiful, sky-high virtuosity: Camille Saint-Saëns’s Third Violin Concerto simply has it all. Just like star violinist Julia Fischer, who is performing this magnificent work at the Heinersdorff Concerts.
Saint-Saëns composed his Violin Concerto in 1880 for the legendary violinist Pablo de Sarasate. It captivates with its enchanting melodies and a subtle, impressionistic interplay of timbres, which is, of course, in the very best of hands with a master of her craft such as Julia Fischer. But the framework provided by the Orchestre National de France to complement this solo highlight is also well worth listening to. Hector Berlioz’s overture to his opera *Béatrice et Bénédict* provides a cheerful start to the evening, which comes to a radiant conclusion with Antonín Dvořák’s delightful Symphony No. 8.
