To mark its 70th anniversary, the Goethe Museum is, for the first time, turning the spotlight on female authors, artists and socialite figures from the Goethe era and the Romantic period.
At the same time, the exhibition marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Katharina Kippenberg (1876–1947), one of the most influential publishers and literary networkers of her era. On display are previously unpublished autographs, portraits and rare prints from the unique Kippenberg Collection, based in Düsseldorf. A varied programme of literature, music and performance opens up new perspectives on a long-underestimated chapter of female authorship in German-speaking cultural history. (Source: d:Art/Kulturamt)
