His mastery is astonishing, his technique beyond reproach, his style of eye-opening clarity: Jan Lisiecki is an exceptional pianist who, in his early 30s, has already spent half his life on concert stages around the world.
His talent and courage link him to Sergei Prokofiev, who revolutionised the concert scene of his day in his early twenties. Prokofiev’s Second Piano Concerto, a powerful and absurdly virtuosic work, artfully combines wildly expressive and deeply romantic moments, making it a true showpiece for Jan Lisiecki. He is joined by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and its principal conductor, Vasily Petrenko, as close collaborators. The second half of the concert features another rich and colourful classic of the repertoire: Rachmaninoff’s Second Symphony.
