For the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra and Adam Fischer, this monumental work also marks a return to a high point in their internationally acclaimed Mahler cycle, before they set off on their next tour of Spain. The sparkling opening in Düsseldorf is provided by Korngold’s centenary miniature: four tongue-in-cheek caricatures, small in scale yet grand in charm.
