The English Theatre Düsseldorf (ETD) is delighted to present the revival of Patrick Barlow’s British Christmas comedy *The Messiah* (in English) on 4 December 2026 at the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Haus Foundation in Düsseldorf!
Patrick Barlow’s *The Messiah* is an amusing and hilarious reimagining of the greatest story of all time: the Christmas story!
The entire cast, consisting of … two people, led by the ‘distinguished historian and actor’ and artistic director Jeffrey Thespus Wimpole (Mike McAlpine) and his incompetent – er – courageous assistant Humphrey Dott (Bevan Thomson), presents their version of the entire Christmas story, accompanied by the fantastic opera singer (Anna Moog), who brilliantly performs excerpts from Handel’s ‘Messiah’. Jeffrey and Humphrey play all the beloved characters: Joseph, Mary, the Archangel Gabriel, Herod, God and many, many more. The audience will leave the theatre filled with joy and Christmas spirit.
