Getting there
For a stress-free visit to the fair, it’s best to leave your car at home or at the Park & Ride car park and travel by public transport or on foot. There are no car parks directly at the Rheinkirmes. What’s more, the walk from the Old Town across the Rhine, with views of the Düsseldorf skyline, is the perfect way to get into the fair spirit.
We recommend travelling by public transport or on foot. Rheinbahn is increasing its services during the ten days of the event. Buses and trams run late into the night in Düsseldorf and to the surrounding towns (Krefeld, Duisburg, Meerbusch, Neuss, Ratingen). From the main station, you can reach the “Luegplatz” stop on tram lines U75, U76, U77 and line “E”. In addition, during the fair, the U70 also stops at “Luegplatz” from 1 pm onwards. There are also extra bus services running during the Rheinkirmes. Bus routes 835, 836 and M3 (except on Sundays) stop at the “Jugendherberge” stop at the southern entrance to the fairground. Night services on bus routes 805 to 817 run from Sunday night to Thursday night. Routes NE1 to NE8 run every 30 minutes at weekends, whilst the night bus 830 in Meerbusch runs every 60 minutes.
You can find the Rheinbahn services to the Rheinkirmes here. Please check the Rheinbahn app in advance. Despite the increased service, there may still be heavy traffic and longer waiting times.
In addition, the fair ferry will once again be available this year to take visitors from the Altstadt (Old Town) to the fair. The ferry runs between the Altstadt (Old Town) and the fair during the funfair regular opening hours. Please note that tickets can only be purchased using a debit card. The crossing costs €3.80 per person. Children up to the age of nine travel for €2.
You can reach the Rheinkirmes on foot or by bike via the Rheinkniebrücke and the Oberkasseler Brücke. You can park your bikes in the large parking areas north of the Oberkasseler Brücke and on the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Ring. It is forbidden to park bikes on bridge railings, safety fences or anywhere within the fairground. Bicycles parked in these areas will be removed for safety reasons.
Rental bikes, e-scooters and Düsselbikes can be parked at sharing stations in the immediate vicinity. Parking of shared vehicles is permitted exclusively at these stations.

Park & Ride car parks offer a seamless transition from car to public transport. You can find information on parking options here.
There are also parking facilities in the Old Town and near the city centre. From there, you can enjoy a stroll to the Rheinkirmes with fantastic views of the Rhine. A special car park for people with severe disabilities, with around 30 spaces, is being set up at the Rheinkniebrücke.
At weekends, you can park for free in the Vodafone multi-storey car park and in the customer car park at Ferdinand-Braun-Platz 1. There are approximately 1,700 spaces available there. From there, it’s about 300 metres to the ‘Prinzenallee’ stop, from where the U70, U76, U77 and 805 services run towards the Rheinkirmes. Opening hours of the Vodafone multi-storey car park:
- Fridays 03.00 pm to 03.00 am
- Saturdays 12.00 pm to 03.00 am
- Sundays 10.00 am to 01.00 am
In addition, the Provinzial car park can be used at weekends. There are 600 free parking spaces available on Fridays and 800 at weekends. The car park can also be used as a Park & Ride facility, although prior registration is required for this. From the ‘Werstener Dorfstraße’ stop, the U72, U76 and U79 trams and the SB50, 780, 782 and 785 buses run to Heinrich-Heine-Allee. From there, the U75, U76 and U77 lines run to the fairground (‘Luegplatz’ stop). Opening hours of the Provinzial car park:

Düsseldorf Airport, in partnership with Rheinbahn, also offers a Park & Ride service. This enables many visitors to find affordable parking at the airport and then travel directly into the city centre by public transport.
