Families in particular appreciate the Fürstenplatz with its spacious playground. For sports enthusiasts, there is a table tennis table and a fenced-in football pitch with soccer goals and basketball hoops. Books can be exchanged or given away in the public bookcase. The special thing about Fürstenplatz is its strong roots in the district: events organized by local residents on a voluntary basis, such as flea markets and summer festivals, bring neighbors together and make the square a place of community. Director Jan Bonny, who grew up in Düsseldorf, also loves his hometown. He shot several scenes in his Veedel (quarter) for the Netflix series “King of Stonks”. The playground and the entrance to the underground parking garage can be seen. Director Peter Schamoni shot his first film, “Schonzeit der Füchse”, at the industrial fountain much earlier. The film won the Silver Bear Jury Prize in Berlin in 1966.
